MTIAPI, formed in 2003 is a duly registered
non-stock, non-profit organization and was established to promote the
outsourcing of medical transcription services as well as promote the development
and education of individuals and corporations with respect to healthcare
information and management. The Association is currently working with
Congress to establish the Data Protection Act of 2006. If enacted, will
regulate the processing of information relating to individuals, including
obtaining, holding, use or disclosure of such confidential information.
The law will provide stiff sanctions to proven violators.
